Ab-Diel Ren is an older Nooetopian statesman who serves as Queen Siobhan's most trusted advisor. He was the first person Benjamin encountered upon his arrival to Life World. He and Benjamin became close friends, and Benjamin took Ab-Diel's death during the fall of Nooetopia quite hard. Despite being well past his prime, Ab-Diel nevertheless proved to be a formidable warrior and swordsman, holding his own in defense of Queen Siobhan.

Younger sister of Aileron; she was spared from death by the Marauder named Loki during a raid by the Animus’ forces. She is very headstrong and stubborn. Initially, she seemed not to like Benjamin very much, but later came to look to him for protection and support, regarding him as her older brother. Ageha is actually a Japanese word meaning ‘swallowtail butterfly’.

A beautiful seraphi female who became Benjamin’s bonded life-mate after his initial arrival on Life World. Like all members of her race, she possesses wings which allow for flight, as well as superhuman strength and stamina.She is depicted here wearing her yukata and brandishing her nodachi; her hair is down and loose here to show her resemblance to her ‘real world’ counterpart, Leticia Warren. Aileron’s name means, ‘little wing.’

The creature known as the Animus is an amorphous, asexual entity that seeks to dominate all life on Life World. It has created its army, the Marauders from heretofore unknown means and uses them to subjugate all the known races on Life World. It is a shape-shifter, capable of altering its appearance to seem more human when the need arises.

A mysterious, tyrannical figure on Life World who began to hold sway after the Animus was destroyed. He gathered up the remnants of the Animus’ vast army, the Marauders and began to go after vulnerable cities still trying to rebuild. Known as ‘the chaos-bringer’, Bad-Doramu is human in appearance, although he is bestial in nature and heavily muscled. In addition, Bad-Doramu gains strength and power from the fear he instills in others. His name is a derivation of the Japanese word for chaos.

Main protagonist of The Substance Of Things Hoped For and Evidence Of Things Unseen, Benjamin Franklin Bishop is an African-American male in his mid-twenties who after an unsuccessful suicide attempt found himself mysteriously transported to Life World where he was hailed as a savior.Benjamin has a tattoo of the kanji for ‘faith' on his left shoulder, underneath which are two koi fish arranged in a yin-yang pattern.

Not many domesticated animals remained on Life World after the appearance of the Animus.One creature that still remained somewhat acclimated to a mutualistic relationship with humans was the ‘horse’ . Still somewhat feral after the advent of the Animus, Benjamin observed that these multi-legged beasts resembled an ancient, dinosaur-like creature called Dimetrodon. Despite these animals still being somewhat wild, the Valkyries of Nooetopia were nevertheless successful in breaking them.

High ranking Zaurian warrior who became Chieftain of Zauria after the death of Roth Khan, and an ally of Benjamin. Fighting alongside the Valkyries of Nooetopia, Kor Tan led the Zaurian warriors in their final push against Bad-Doramu.

Chief Valkyrie and personal guard of Queen Siobhan. A powerful fighter, proud and headstrong, she at first mistrusted Benjamin and took any opportunity to undermine him. Later, after fighting by his side, she grudgingly came to respect him, and soon became one of his closest, most trusted allies.When Benjamin returned to Life World, he found that Lagertha had mated with fellow Valkyrie Tyr and that they had a young daughter, Freya.
