"I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream". - Vincent Van Gogh
Back in October, my wife and I had the opportunity to attend the Van Gogh Immersive Experience, a traveling multimedia exhibit featuring the work of Post-Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh.
As any who reads this blog should be aware by now, Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists, who I’ve often mentioned here. The exhibit is immersive in that rather than viewing his art in the traditional manner, patrons actually immerse themselves as they walk through projected images and scenes, such as his famous Starry Night, accompanied by music.
As we walked through the shifting scenes and reviewed facts about Van Gogh’s life, I found myself moved by the poignancy of it all. He lived an incredibly challenging life, but he never allowed his circumstances to dim his passion for creating art.

The Bedroom in Arles was Vincent's apartment at the famed "Yellow House", which he also painted in 1888.

There, I also learned a few facts about Van Gogh that I otherwise didn't know; I learned that in addition to his beloved brother Theo, who often gave support to Vincent's work, he also had three sisters.
As something of an artist myself, Van Gogh’s life story has always struck a chord within me. I, too, know what it is to be driven by the intense desire to create, sometimes to my own detriment. To this day, I’m driven to distraction by this desire.
So here’s to you, Vincent. You’ve found a kindred spirit here in me.
